Inter Allies commenced the Elite Clubs Cup Competition with a 1-1 draw against Heart of Lions at the Kpando Park on Sunday evening.
Youssouf Kabore’s 42nd penalty goal rescued the Eleven Is To One who were a goal down by Prince Coffiie’s bicycle goal.
Coach Rashid Iddi made five changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Berekum Chelsea, Youssouf Kabore started in a 4-1-4-1 formation.
Faisal Mohammed and Wahab Ackwei paired in defence with Chicka Onu and Edward Adjaklo on the right and left side of defence respectively.
Niare Benogo and Youssouf Kabore played behind striker Sheriff Mohammed who was the lone striker.
Emmanuel Nettey sat in front of the defence with Lord Ofosuhene and Fredrick Yamoah on the right and left flanks respectively.
Inter Allies started very well and were the brighter side of the two right from the kick off whistle, Niare Benogo, Yousaouf Kabore and Emmanuel Nettey were bossing the midfield.
Sheriff Mohammed won a free kick for Inter Allies in a dangerous area, Edward Adjaklo effected but Lions defence cleared for corner kick, first real chance was gone begging.
Youssouf Kabore was shown yellow for a late tackle, he injured himself in the process and was brought out, but after treatment, he went back again.
The Eleven Is To One were desperately looking for the opener and Faisal Mohammed almost delivered it. But his shot from a delivered corner kick went straight to the goalkeeper.
From two different attempts, Emmanuel Nettey and Niare Benogo all sent long range strikes from halfway which nearly beat the Lions goalkeeper, both kicks looked alike.
When all looked too well for Inter Allies, Lions scored. Prince Coffie sneaked through the defence and scored from beautiful bicycle kick.
The team didn’t go down, they kept the momentum and just four minutes after going down, won a penalty. Fredrick Yamoah was brought down inside the box. Youssouf Kabore stepped up made no mistake by sending the goalkeeper the wrong way, the score was 1-1 at half time.
After the recess, Sheriff Mohammed got the chance to put Inter Allies in the lead but he fluffed his chance from close range, real chance went begging.
Osei Kwame came to our rescue when he pulled a magical save to deny Lions on the 70th minute, he went on to guard the posts with more classical saves.
On the 77th minute Osei Kwame topped his performance when he saved Osman Muntaka’s penalty. Edward Adjaklo had caused the offense and Lions got the chance to restore their lead but Osei Kwame went the right direction to deny them.
Despite several desperate attacks, both sides failed to add to the tally as the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
