Vice captain Baba Mensah was named defender of the year at the 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League awards ceremony held at the La Palm Royal Beach hotel on Friday.

The industrious and tireless defender was awarded by the GFA and PLB for his outstanding performance for the season as he helped the club to sixth position.

He beat off competition from Lawrence Lartey (AshantiGold) and Ahmed Adams (Asante Kotoko) to achieve this remarkable feat, an accolade which was received by the club’s Technical Director Willie Klutse on his behalf.

This season, Baba Mensah made 22 appearances for the ‘Eleven Is To One’ out of 30 games, scoring three goals and making one of the club’s topscorers.

Chief Executive and Brands Manager Delali Eric Senaye who was contesting for the CEO of the year award lost to Kudjo Fianoo of league champions AshantiGold.

The club lost out on two awards, Fair Play Team of the Year and Best Behaved Supporting Group to Medeama SC and AshantiGold respectively.
