Match Report: Inter Allies 2-0 Mepe United

We capped off our 2023/2024 league campaign with a crucial 2-0 win over close competitors Mepe United in match day 18 of the Volta Regional FA Division 2 League.

The game started slowly, with us lagging in every action and our movement being poor. Few chances were created in a disappointing first half.

Michael missed a golden opportunity, shooting high and wide with only the goal in front of him.

Mepe United took advantage of our sluggish start, taking a few decent shots on goal, but they could not capitalize.

During the halftime interval, a change in game plan to a more pressing style and a motivating pep talk reinvigorated the team.

We began the second half with sharpness, winning duels, gaining possession, and playing faster.

Our first goal came just three minutes into the second half. Malik found Boakye, who dribbled past two defenders and provided a perfect cutback for Gideon, who slotted it into the net in the 48th minute.

With the lead, we started to control the game, winning duels and stretching the play.

Ten minutes later, Sabiq’s 60-yard cross field ball found Azizu, who cut it back for Gideon to tap home his second goal.

From there, the game was beyond the reach of Mepe united as we created good chances to have added to the two goals but we were not clinical and decisive enough to bury the chances.

At the end of 90 minutes, Gideon Adjei’s brace secured all three points and cemented our position at the top of the league.
