History was made, as Inter Allies defeated Ebusua Dwarfs for the first time in the Ghana Premier League in 2-1 win over the Cape Coast side on Sunday.
The match week four fixture was marred by heavy rains at the El Wak Stadium, but couldn’t prevent the ‘Eleven Is To One’ to their first victory.
Antwi Kwame Amoako and Samuel Konney had their debut goals for the club in the first half before Nicholas Gyan reduced the deficit in the second half.
Coach Prince Owusu made two changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Medeama SC in midweek with Paul Abanga replacing injured Uriah Kporvi and Samuel Konney for Desmond Abuga.
Surprisingly, it was Ebusua Dwarfs who made their intentions known by applying more pressure. Solomon Gyesi beat his marker but final shot was well saved by Kotei Blankson.
The visitors were up for business but Inter Allies warmed into the game and took advantage of the lapses by punishing them.
Samuel Konney who was on his debut starting duty fired from long range, Dwarfs goalkeeper Michael Abu couldn’t grab first time and Antwi Kwame Amoako headed home the opener in the 33rd minute.
Just ten minutes after going up, Konney Smauel finally got his goal. The forward took after of a miscommunication between Dwarfs defenders and the goalkeeper to punish the visitors.
However, Ebusua Dwarfs displayed one of the finest performances in the second half and were rewarded in the 54th minute. Nicholas Gyan headed home what later became the consolation goal.
Dwarfs kept probing for the equaliser but couldn’t find the back of the net as Inter Allies grabbed first win over them in the league.
Joseph Esso (Dwarfs) was named the man of the match.
