Victorien Adebayor suffers huge defeat with Niger
Inter Allies forward Victorien Adje Adebayor featured for Niger’s national team in their 6-0 defeat to Egypt in the 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers on Saturday.
The team’s talisman replaced Mohammed Amadou Djibo Wonkoye at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in the 58th minute, trailing 3-0 then.
He had little influence on his team as his side was put to the sword during the entire duration of the game in front of the jubilant home fans.
Marwan Mohsen opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Ayman Ashraf made it 2-0 six minute after the opener.
Mohammed Salah got the 3rd for the Pharaohs before the break. Niger came from the recess a very strong side.
The visitors held the Pharaohs down until the 73rd minute where Mohsen Salah scored a beautiful goal to make it 4-0.
Late in the game, Mohammed Salah got his brace and Mohammed Elneny scored to wrap things for Egypt.
The defeat means, Niger are bottom of Group J with just a point after 2 games; they drew Swaziland 0-0 in the opening fixture.
