Daniel Amartey congratulates fans and expects more support against South Korea

Former Inter Allies talisman Daniel Amartey is very confident Ghana can record their first win of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after its opening-day defeat to Portugal and throws respect to the fans who did not lose hope in the team during the match.

In a pre-match press conference, the stalwart defender congratulated the fans for their unwavering support and expects them to continue with their support in the second group game against South Korea on Monday afternoon.

“I think the fans were amazing in the first game (against Portugal), our supporters supported as well and I know they are going to do the same in our game against South Korea,” he said.

The Black Stars started the game against Portugal on a slow note and many thought it was down to the fact that the Stars had much respect for the Portuguese, but Amartey says it’s otherwise they rather went into the game with a plan that was instructed by the coach.

He added: “We had to go with the plan the coach told us and I think it worked for us.”
”But in the game, things can change, the first half was good and in the second half we opened up and got more chances to go forward.”

Having a predator in the name of Son Heung-min, Amartey insists the Tottenham Hotspur striker is not the only dangerous man they will face.

“We have to watch every player because everybody is good, not only one person.”

Ghana will hope to record a win against South Korea on Monday, at the Education City Stadium at 4:00 pm local time.
